Kaftans have always been one of my favorite wardrobe must-haves. Maybe it’s from seeing my mother always wearing them when I was growing up.  She had so many; in every different color and pattern, and I loved sneaking into her closet to play dress-up and pretend I was a fortune-teller or a Moroccan princess. There is something effortlessly beautiful & chic about a kaftan and it can be worn for almost any occasion depending on the fabric and styling. My favorite way to wear them, however, is as a swim cover up or at the beach.

Here are my 5 favorite summer kaftans and how to style them.

Bohemian Kaftan by Issue

Printed sheer kaftan with embroidered detail from Issue. I’ve had this one for years and still love it!  Pair it with a bejeweled bikini, a pair of strappy platform sandals and some ethnic accessories for a bohemian look.

Embroidered silk chiffon kaftan from Lola. Perfect over a matching turquoise bikini for a morning stroll on the beach. I’ve paired it with some gold shades and my daughter’s woven water hyacinth basket to collect shells.

This is technically not a kaftan but rather a Mexican peasant tunic but its one of my favorite pieces and I wear it all the time. Here, I’ve gone with a bright orange one-piece, my favorite Panama hat, and some fun & funky earrings for an artistic vibe :)

This is the most recent addition to my kaftan collection from the DVF Resort Collection.  It’s a linen wraparound piece and can be used either as a swim cover up or even worn alone as a casual resort look. I am so in love with the colors of this one and paired it here with an embellished raffia clutch and some beach sandals.

This shimmery satin kaftan by Sol Sisters brings a sophisticated look for your next pool party or a romantic dinner by the beach. Add some gold accessories and even a pair of heels to up the glam-factor.

There you have it! So the next time you go on holiday or have a beach party, you might want to try a kaftan :)
